Western USA – Feb 2012
Where to start…
Well, maybe by the begining. Adie got 2 weeks of vacations, and I got the mission to plan something for those two weeks! Initially we thought of a trip in LA, San Fransisco and Vegas. So I took the flights, a car to be able to move from one city to another, and the first and last hotel.
The flights:
MIAMI -> LOS ANGELES, departure Sat 11 feb – 8h40
LOS ANGELES -> MIAMI, departure Sun 26 feb – 7h05
Hotels:
Coral Sand Motel, 11 – 13 feb, north LA
Super 8, 25 – 26 feb, LA airport
I rent a car on Enterprise, economy car.
We took only 2 cabin luggages, no check-in luggage. It is cheaper, and quicker. We had mostly our day-to-day clothes, leather jackets, but no camping gear, sleeping bags, etc…
On Saturday 11 Feb morning the Adventure starts! We wake up pretty early to catch a taxi for the airport. More than 5 hours of flight later we land in LA, it’s cooler than in Miami but still pretty warm (around 68F – 20C). We are heading to the car renting facility.
After a 20 minutes wait we are able to get our car. Surprise! We have a nice Nissan Maxima instead of an economy one!
We spend the afternoon in the traffic jam and Santa Monica.
After a long time in the car, due to traffic jam, we finally arrive at the hotel. The picture has been taken on the next morning however. We eat in a reproduction of an old saloon, there is even a rodeo on going on a fake buffalo. Beer, Burger and Ribs are on the menu 😉

Then we go to bed early, 3 hour of jet-jag makes it not so early!
